ANAMA DIRECTOR MEETS NAMSA GENERAL MANAGER

Nazim Ismayilov, Director of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) met Monday with the delegation led by General Manager of NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA) Karl-Heinz Münzner.

Mr. Ismayilov gave detailed information about the Agency`s activity and the upcoming plans. During the meeting, the sides discussed the Saloglu project, being the priority for Azerbaijan government.

Mr. Ismayilov underlined that 5457, 309 square km of territory was cleared from mines and 75,164 of 261,435 UXOs neutralized till June 1, 2007 in the framework of the Saloglu project’s first phase. During the second phase of the project launched June 1, 101,575 sq.km of 2,204,409 territories was cleared from mines and 1446 UXOs neutralized.

The sides have also discussed the opportunities in implementation of the third phase of Saloglu project within the framework of ANAMA-NATO/NAMSA cooperation.
