Argentine`s University opens Azerbaijani studies department
Baku, June 1 (AZERTAC). An event has been held on the occasion of establishment of the Azerbaijani studies department under the Argentine`s National University of La Plata (UNLP) of Institute of International Relations.
The event has brought together officials of the University, as well as members of the Argentinean Parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentine, scientists and researchers engaged in Southern Caucasus region.
Founding Director of the International Relations Institute of UNLP, head of the Azerbaijani studies department Norberto Consani provided information about Azerbaijan. He also noted that the department would serve for popularization of Azerbaijan in Latin America.
Azerbaijani Ambassador Mammad Ahmadzade praised the opening of the Azerbaijani department in Argentine.
Ambassador also said that the department which is the first centre in Latin America would contribute its efforts on educating the local people on Azerbaijan.
Mammad Ahmadzade also highlighted the development relations and prospect of cooperation between the two countries.
The National University of La Plata is one of the most important Argentine national universities and the biggest one situated in the city of La Plata, capital of Buenos Aires Province. It has over 90,000 regular students, 10,000 teaching staff, 16 departments and 106 available degrees.
