Astana hosting 7th World Islamic Economic Forum
Baku, June 9 (AZERTAC). The 7th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) is underway in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The forum brought together over 30 politicians and economists including President of Djibouti Ismael Omar Guelleh, Vice President of Indonesia Boediono, Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak, Prime Minster of Tajikistan Akil Akilov, president of Islamic Development Bank Ahmad Muhammad Ali and others.
Azerbaijan is represented by a delegation led by Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev in the forum. The motto of the forum is “Globalizing Economic Growth: bilateral relations, competition and cooperation”.
Kazakhstan`s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Karim Masimov also attended the forum.
Addressing the forum the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev touched upon the establishment of International Innovation Center of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) with participation of interested countries. Nursultan Nazarbayev also offered creation of a special foundation for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) under the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
