AZERBAIJAN AND PAKISTAN EXPAND CULTURAL TIES
Interviewed by AzerTAj reporter Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Mohammad Hafiz pointed out that both countries would benefit from development of cultural and scientific relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. He remembered that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf stated during the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev that his country is ready to provide opportunities for 5 Azerbaijani students to study banking and finance and 10 students - information and communication in Pakistan. The Ambassador noted as well that the Embassy had recently presented to the Baku State University the books in Urdu, and expressed pleasure with founding Urdu language division at the University’s Oriental Sciences Department. Mr. Hafiz announced that the Embassy is planning to send the students to continue education in Pakistan, where they will have the opportunity to familiarize with the country’ culture, history and establish contacts with people. According to him, the Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism signed in the course of the Pakistani President’s visit to Azerbaijan will also create good opportunities for study of the two cultures, which have much in common.
