Azerbaijan attends session of ECOSOC Commission in New York
Baku, March 14 (AZERTAC). Chair of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova has attended the 58th session of the Commission on the Status of Women of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Huseynova delivered a speech at the opening ceremony to highlight the situation of the Azerbaijani children and women who suffered as a result of Armenia`s aggression. She also addressed the session to speak of what the Azerbaijani government had done to strengthen the protection of women and children in the country.
The event focused on challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls, access to and participation of women and girls in education, training, science and technology, including the promotion of women’s equal access to full employment and decent work.
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.
