AZERBAIJAN DEPUTY FM MEETS CIS EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
The meeting discussed the results of an unofficial CIS summit held in Moscow on February 22, as well as forthcoming meeting of CIS Foreign Ministers Council to be held in Moscow.
Lebedev praised Azerbaijan`s role in the CIS.
He said the agenda of CIS Foreign Ministers Council will include several issues, including strategy of economical development of the Commonwealth, transport cooperation and providing food safety in the CIS.
Lebedev underlined President Ilham Aliyev`s important role in the development of humanitarian cooperation within the CIS.
Khalafov said CIS countries have good cooperative relations in a number of fields, including economic, humanitarian, transport and banking.
Noting Azerbaijan`s concern over stance of several CIS countries on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Khalafov said his country will use all international legal norms to restore its territorial integrity.
Khalafov also touched upon the "Resolution on the Situation in the Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan" adopted by the UN General Assembly.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the OSCE Minks Group Co-Chairs` position on the issue and said “this approach is incomprehensible and unacceptable”.
