Azerbaijan, France discuss prospects for bilateral relations
Baku, July 24 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met his French counterpart Laurent Fabius in Paris.
The ministers praised relationship between Azerbaijan and France.
Fabius said a number of big companies had successful cooperation with Azerbaijan not only in oil, but also non-oil sector. He expressed hope that Azerbaijan-France relations would continue to develop.
The French minister hailed Azerbaijani first lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva’s contributions to development of bilateral cultural ties. He also thanked the Azerbaijani government for the support of opening of the French lyceum in Baku. They also discussed issues regarding regional security.
Elmar Mammadyarov briefed his French counterpart on the negotiations process to settle the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Azerbaijani minister said settlement of the conflict was necessary for regional peace and prosperity in the region.
The two ministers also discussed questions on energy security. Mammadyarov informed the French counterpart on the current and promising energy projects.
During the meeting, the ministers also discussed security in the Southern Caucasus and Europe, the Azerbaijan-European Union relations, and fight against terrorism.
