AZERBAIJAN INITIATES ON CREATION OF REGIONAL CENTER ON STRUGGLE AGAINST TUBERCULOSIS
Ali Insanov has expressed gratitude to management of WHO for assistance in allocation by Global Fund on struggle against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria to Azerbaijan of the grant at the rate of 6,5 million dollars. Means will be directed for prevention of distribution of the infection in the country.
According to the Minister, successful cooperation of Azerbaijan being the unique country in the CIS where the greatest number of WHO programs is carried out, with this international organization has yielded positive results in sphere of carrying out of reforms in system of public health services, liquidation of some infectious diseases. So, in 27 times in comparison with the beginning of 90th years cases of disease with malaria, completely put an end to poliomyelitis, also are observed positive changes in struggle against tuberculosis.
Director of the European Regional Bureau of WHO Mark Danson, assessed reforms conducted in the country in the field of public health services, has noted, that among priority directions of the future cooperation with Azerbaijan with WHO has defined projects in sphere of propagation of healthy way of life, maintenance with the qualified medical aid and medical products for vulnerable. Experience of Azerbaijan in this area as Mark Danson has noted, will be distributed and on other countries with transitive economy. He expressed hope that in the near future Azerbaijan will turn from the country - addressee of the help in the WHO donor.
