‘Azerbaijan is Poland`s important partner’
Warsaw, April 3 (AZERTAC). “Azerbaijan is an important partner of Poland in defense matters. We want these relations to develop more dynamically,” said representative of the Department of International Security Policy of the Ministry of Defense of Poland Katarzyna Friedrich.
“We seek to develop our bilateral cooperation as part of the NATO Partnership for Peace programme which Azerbaijan joined in 1994. We observe Azerbaijan’s priorities as part of this cooperation,” she said.
According to Friedrich, Azerbaijan and Poland cooperate in military education, organization of various courses including the academy of national army. There is the possibility of providing English and Polish languages. Poland backs Azerbaijan in implementation of the military education reforms.
“We are open for future cooperation. We would like this cooperation to be dynamic and bring benefits to the Azerbaijani side,” Friedrich said.
Friedrich told of the defense policy of Poland, which is based on cooperation with NATO and EU, priorities of the defense policy. She highlighted five foundations of the country`s security. According to her, three of these priorities are essential. These are NATO membership, EU membership and strategic cooperation with the US. The other priorities include stability and security in the region and development of bilateral relations with seven neighbors of the country.
