AZERBAIJAN, ITALY DEVELOP LEGAL CO-OP
Azerbaijan, intensively integrating to world community, gives special attention to expansion of bilateral relations with the leading European countries.
Italy is one of the countries in European space Azerbaijan has established effective contacts with in economic, cultural and legal spheres.
Officials of both countries have signed important documents on cooperation in numerous fields, including legal sphere.
As continuation of the established relations, on invitation of the Justice Minister of Italy Clemente Mastella, Justice Minister of Azerbaijan Fikret Mammadov and a delegation have visited Italy.
The Italian Minister, noting the existent effective relations between the two states in numerous fields, said that he is well aware of the economic accomplishments of Azerbaijan and that Italy is keen in development of mutually beneficial ties. He stressed importance of co-op of the judicial bodies, signed documents, and spoke of prospects of further expansion of links.
Expressing gratitude for hospitality, Justice Minister of Azerbaijan with satisfaction noted dynamic development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in numerous fields. Speaking of the legal-judicial reforms conducted in the country, he highly estimated contributions of Italian experts to this cause.
During the meetings with high legal-judicial officials of Italy, discussed were exchange of experience, cooperation in combat against terrorism, organized crime, corruption, the Italian initiative on abolishment of capital punishment in world, training of judges, other questions. Justice Minster of Azerbaijan invited his counterpart to visit Baku. The invitation was accepted.
On the news conference after the meetings, Minister Mammadov told representatives of Italian mass media of progressive reforms conducted in Azerbaijan, the reached accomplishments, large-scale actions being realized for modernization of judicial system, in detail informed on realities of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, noting the country`s fair position basing on historical facts and norms of international law.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Italy Emil Karimov took part at the meetings.
