Azerbaijan, North Macedonia explore expansion of energy cooperation

Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, met with the North Macedonian parliamentary delegation led by Afrim Gashi, President of the Assembly.
the meeting explored the development prospects of bilateral relations, particularly focusing on opportunities to deepen energy cooperation.
The sides underscored the recent development of political and economic relations between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia, as well as energy collaboration. The meeting highlighted that the supply of natural gas from Azerbaijan to North Macedonia had been successfully continued since last year. The North Macedonian Parliament expressed its interest in expanding this long-term cooperation, also expressing its full support for the development of energy partnership.
Minister Shahbazov briefed the North Macedonian official about the energy projects implemented by Azerbaijan in collaboration with the European Union and its member countries, including the Southern Gas Corridor, green energy corridors, and the development of renewable energy sources. The discussions further revolved around Azerbaijan's plans to increase the share of renewable sources in the country's installed energy capacity by 2027 to 33%, and by 2035 to 44%, and the steps taken to export green energy to the European market. In this context, the sides also assessed the opportunities for the green energy supply.
