Baku, June 23, (AZERTAC). Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met Friday with chairman of Cambridge Energy Research Associates, Daniel Yergin and professor of the Georgetown University of Foreign Service, Director of the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies, Angela Stent.

On the large-scale energy and transport projects, E. Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan plays a key role in diversification of energy supplies in the world.

The US visitors highly assessed Azerbaijan’s role in diversification of energy supplies, saying it is an important factor for the energy security.

Asked about oil revenues management, E. Mammadyarov said the Government takes into account macroeconomic consequences driven by oil revenues. According to him, oil revenues are being diverted to agriculture, education, defense, tourism and other spheres.

Minister said great attention is paid to education. He told of construction of schools, state program on education of students abroad.

The meeting also focused on regional cooperation, situation in the world energy market and other issues of mutual interest.
