AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVED CREDENTIALS FROM AMBASSADOR OF FRANCE
Presenting the credentials, Ambassador Blatman noted in particular that he would build up his activity to contribute to reaching progress in economic, social and democratic development in Azerbaijan. Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, he reaffirmed that France honors territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and does not recognize independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. We are completely confident that this conflict should be settled peacefully, through talks, he said.
Finally, the French Ambassador assured the President that he would do his best to promote development of Azerbaijan-France relationship in the spirit of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated the Ambassador on the new appointment and wished him success in his further activities.
The President, in particular, pointed out the rapid development of France-Azerbaijan cooperation in all spheres including political, economic and cultural ones, and expressed confidence in strengthening of this ties in the future. French companies are very active and successful in Azerbaijan, especially in oil and gas sector, he said.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, President Ilham Aliyev noted that France is one of the OSCE Minsk group co-Chairs, and expressed hope that solution to the conflict would be found soon on the base of the international law.
As you know, as a result of the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, 20% of our lands have been occupied, and one million of Azerbaijani people become refugees and internally displaced. We recognize territorial integrity of all states, and, of course, expect the same approach towards Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev finalized.
Present at the ceremony were Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and Chief of the President Administration’s Foreign Relations Department Novruz Mammadov.
