Azerbaijan, Serbia explore energy cooperation
Baku, April 8, AZERTAC
Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, met with Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy.
The meeting underscored the crucial role of the high-level relations between the two countries’ leaders in fostering the strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The officials noted that the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council between Azerbaijan and Serbia, co-chaired by both countries’ Presidents in Belgrade this February, as well as the agreement, which envisages the construction of a gas turbine power plant in Serbia, contributed to the development of energy cooperation. They also highlighted the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Energy Cooperation, held this March.
The discussions focused on the cooperation in oil and gas, energy infrastructure, electric energy production, energy efficiency, renewable energy and heat supply.
It was mentioned that Azerbaijan had exported 444.6 million cubic meters of natural gas to Serbia in over two years. The meeting also reviewed cooperation in the “Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor” project.
Minister Parviz Shahbazov invited the Serbian delegation to attend the events, scheduled to take place during the Baku Energy Week.
