‘Azerbaijan supports China’s Belt and Road Initiative’

“Azerbaijan supports China’s Belt and Road Initiative,” said Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev as he met with President of the Silk Road Fund Wang Yanzhi.
Recalling the Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Encouragement of the Establishment of “Silk Way Economic Belt” signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China in 2015, Minister Mustafayev noted that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to support this initiative. “This strategy coincides with the Trans-Caspian transport corridor,” Shahin Mustafayev said.
Wang Yanzhi highlighted activities of the Silk Road Fund, adding the Fund invests in infrastructure, energy and natural resources, industrial and financial cooperation. He also described Azerbaijan as a key transit country.
