Azerbaijan, UAE discuss agricultural cooperation
Baku. May 3 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s minister of agriculture Ismat Abbasov has met the United Arab Emirates` minister of economy Sultan bin Saeed al Mansouri to discuss prospects for developing agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
Abbasov highlighted Azerbaijan`s agricultural reforms.
“As a result of the agricultural reforms, which were launched by national leader Heydar Aliyev and are now continued by President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has made considerable achievements in the field of agriculture.”
“Relevant state programs ensured the development of socio-economic situation in our regions and villages, the improvement of food supply to population and the increase in the volume of agricultural exports,” the minister added.
Abbasov touched upon the 3rd meeting of the Azerbaijan-UAE joint intergovernmental commission, saying its agenda featured a wide range of issues.
“The meeting discussed such important issues like speeding up the preparatory work for the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Azerbaijan`s ministry of agriculture and the UAE ministry of environment and water; the drawing up of a draft agreement between the two countries on plant quarantine and protection; exploring the possibilities of establishing a joint veterinary drugs manufacturing enterprise in Azerbaijan; and attracting UAE`s leasing companies to the Azerbaijani market.”
Al Mansouri said UAE companies were ready to invest in Azerbaijan`s agriculture. He vowed to continue efforts to contribute to developing the bilateral relations.
