Azerbaijan, UNESCO sign agreement
Baku, May 31 (AZƏRTAC). Azerbaijan and UNESCO have signed an agreement to organize the 10th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The document was signed by UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova and Azerbaijan`s Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Garayev noted that Azerbaijan has always maintained close cooperation with UNESCO, and the activities of the organization are in the focus of the Azerbaijani society.
The Minister thanked the UNESCO management for the attention paid to the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.
He also expressed his gratitude for the confidence and opportunity to hold the tenth session of the Committee in Azerbaijan, noting the country will seriously prepare for this session.
Irina Bokova thanked the Azerbaijani government for agreeing to host the tenth session of the Committee. She noted that the cooperation between UNESCO and Azerbaijan would continue to develop and expand.
