Azerbaijan, World Bank explore enhancing cooperation

On January 26, Sahil Babayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance, met with a delegation of World Bank (WB) led by Charles Cormier, Regional Director for Infrastructure for Europe and Central Asia, with Roland Pryce, the Regional Director for the South Caucasus, also in attendance.
The meeting focused on the current state and development of the Azerbaijan-WB cooperation, the projects being implemented with the Bank’s financial support, particularly existing and future programs in infrastructure, urban development, energy, and digital sectors.
Highlighting more than 30 years of bilateral cooperation, Minister Sahil Babayev emphasized that the bank had allocated approximately $5.2 billion to 54 projects in total to provide assistance to Azerbaijan. According to him, this cooperation has contributed significantly to the implementation of economic reforms and the provision of sustainable infrastructure in the country.
Subsequently, the sides reviewed the progress of the joint projects implemented with the World Bank.
