Azerbaijani Ambassador meets head of Swedish news agency
Stockholm, April 14 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Ambassador to Sweden Adish Mammadov has met head of the Swedish news agency Tidningarnas Telegrambyra-TT Jonas Eriksson.
They discussed expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries, as well as prospects for cooperation between AZERTAC and Tidningarnas Telegrambyra-TT.
Jonas Eriksson highlighted the activity of Tidningarnas Telegrambyra-TT.
He said established in 1921, the organization was the biggest news agency in the country.
Jonas Eriksson noted that the Tidningarnas Telegrambyra-TT employees nearly 400 people.
Azerbaijani Ambassador Adish Mammadov provided an insight into the country’s history, as well as the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Ambassador noted 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands had been occupied, and more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs as a result of the Armenian military aggression.
He also noted that the UN Security Council adopted 4 resolutions demanding an unconditional and immediate withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
The Ambassador said Armenia continued to ignore the documents adopted by the international organizations.
Adish Mammadov then informed representatives of the Tidningarnas Telegrambyra-TT about activities of Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC), saying AZERTAC is the only source of the official news.
He noted that AZERTAC wires in Azerbaijani, English, Russian, French, German and Arabic languages the round-the-clock news covering all spheres of life in Azerbaijan.
He said AZERTAC was the member of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA).
Adish Mammadov noted that AZERTAC had international cooperation agreements with more than 30 news agencies, noting AZERTAC has bureaus in 20 countries, including Sweden.
They also discussed opportunities for building direct ties between the two news agencies.
Representatives of the Tidningarnas Telegrambyra-TT expressed readiness for cooperation with AZERTAC.
