Azerbaijani Ambassador presents credentials to Sri Lankan President

Elchin Huseynli, Azerbaijan’s non-resident Ambassador to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, presented his credentials to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Friday.
The Sri Lankan President congratulated Ambassador Huseynli on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.
The Ambassador conveyed the greetings of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to President Dissanayake.
The Sri Lankan President expressed gratitude for the greetings and asked the ambassador to pass on his regards to the Azerbaijani head of state.
The discussion highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Sri Lanka within international organizations and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties.
The Azerbaijani diplomat also met with Vijitha Herath, the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, to discuss political, economic, trade, tourism, and educational cooperation. Both sides agreed to take practical, result-oriented steps to enhance bilateral relations.
Huseynli briefed the Sri Lankan FM on Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of COP29 and its global climate action initiatives.
