Azerbaijani and Vietnamese statistical agencies expand cooperation

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Tahir Budagov, Chairman of the State Statistical Committee, has visited the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the invitation of Nguyen Thi Huong, Director-General of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO).
As part of the visit, the delegation visited the Mausoleum, Museum, and former residence of the Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh. On behalf of the delegation, archival photos highlighting the historic 1959 visit of Ho Chi Minh to Azerbaijan and the 1983 visit of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam (in his capacity as First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers) were presented as gifts to the museum.
During the meeting with Director-General Nguyen Thi Huong, both sides characterized Azerbaijan and Vietnam as friendly partners that respect each other's interests. They expressed satisfaction with the upward trajectory of interstate relations and emphasized a mutual interest in expanding cooperation across the economic, trade, cultural, humanitarian, educational, tourism, and energy sectors.
The sides highlighted the importance of the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Statistics," noting its role in creating internationally comparable data that reflects the socio-economic status of both nations.
Furthermore, a Work Plan for the 2026–2028 period was signed within the framework of the MoU. It was emphasized that the activities under this plan will significantly strengthen institutional cooperation in the field of statistics.
During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation also held high-level meetings with To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Nguyen Minh Vu, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
