AZERBAIJANI CEC HOLDS SEMINAR
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Friday held a seminar called “Elections in mass media” for journalists.
The seminar associated with preparation for and holding the forthcoming presidential election in Azerbaijan was co-organized by the OSCE Office in Baku.
Mazahir Panahov, CEC Chairman noted the Commission attaches great importance to cooperation with mass media, adding that journalists take active part in all the CEC-organized events.
According to him, representations of international organizations in Baku highly appreciated and supported the CEC’s initiative.
Mr. Panahov stressed the CEC’s activity was based on democratic values on which the Azerbaijani leadership pays special attention.
Jose Luis Herrero Ansola, Head of the OSCE Office in Baku said, at the event, holding presidential election in accordance with international standards is of great importance for Azerbaijan.
Touching upon the role of media in elections, he emphasized the necessity of studying the practice of developed countries regarding this issue.
The attendees of the seminar heard reports delivered by Natig Mammadov, CEC Deputy Chairman, other members of the Commission, as well as international experts.
