AZERBAIJANI FM MEETS NATO PA PRESIDENT
Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met Wednesday with visiting NATO Parliamentary Assembly President Jose Lello.
The aim of Lello`s visit is to study the ongoing events in the region. Lello said he was impressed by political and economic accomplishments achieved by Azerbaijan. He expressed confidence that expansion of NATO PA-Milli Majlis relationships will make a huge contribution to NATO-Azerbaijan ties.
Mammadyarov said integration into European and Euroatlantic structures is an important element of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy.
Foreign Minister reported on successful implementation of the NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan and achievement of the goals set. According to the Minister, the major problem facing Azerbaijan today is the unsettled Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Mammadyarov noted the conflict poses a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.
