The Minister of Economy and Industry, Co-Chairman of the State Commission for Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the economic, commercial and humanitarian spheres Shahin Mustafayev met with the delegation led by Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Chairman of Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IMIDRO) Mehdi Karbasian, on September 16.

At the event Azerbaijani minister highlighted the role of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran in the development of cooperation between the two countries and stressed the importance of mutual visits and meetings in expansion of relations.

"There is a great potential for further development of relations between the two countries in various sectors of the economy, as well as in mechanical engineering, steel, mining, pharmaceutical fields", Mustafayev stressed. Emphasizing the extensive experience of Iran in mining industry, the Minister stressed the possibility of cooperation between Azerbaijan Steel Production Complex CJSC and IMIDRO, also the interest of Azerbaijani companies in investing of Iran.

In turn, Mehdi Karbasian informed about expansion of relations between the two countries in the field of industry and the activity of IMIDRO. He also highlighted the opportunities for cooperation in mining, steel, non-ferrous metallurgy sectors, as well as free economic zones in Iran. The guest invited Azerbaijani businessmen to invest in these areas in Iran.
