AZERBAIJANI OMBUDSPERSON ATTENDS COUNCIL OF EUROPE SEMINAR ON REFUGEES AND IDPS
Azerbaijan`s Commissioner for Human Rights Elmira Suleymanova attended the Council of Europe`s seminar on problems of refugees and IDPs in Strasbourg, France.
In her address, Suleymanova spoke of Armenia`s aggression against her country.
She said Armenians occupied twenty percent of Azerbaijani territories and forced one million Azerbaijanis to become refugees and IDPs.
Suleymanova called on the Council of Europe to be more actively involved in settling the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The three-day conference aimed at Georgia`s and Azerbaijan`s commissioners of human rights and the Council of Europe experts, focused on application of European standards in protecting human rights.
