Azerbaijani parliament speaker meets head of French Senate`s observation mission
Baku, October 7 (AZERTAC). Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov has today met a delegation led by member of the French Senate, head of the Senate`s observation mission Nathalie Goulet.
Mr Asadov briefed members of the delegation on preparatory work ahead of October 9 presidential elections in Azerbaijan. The speaker said necessary conditions have been created to ensure free, transparent and fair elections in Azerbaijan.
On Azerbaijan-France relations, Mr Asadov said the two countries enjoy high level political and economic cooperation. “About 40 intergovernmental documents signed between the two countries bolstered legal base for our cooperation,” said the Speaker.
“Trade between Azerbaijan and France surpasses USD 2 billion and about 40 French companies are operating in Azerbaijan,” Mr Asadov said.
Mr Asadov noted the role of friendship groups of Parliaments in development of relations.
Nathalie Goulet, in turn, said she observed elections in Azerbaijan for several times, adding the country in past years reached rapid development and gained successful election experience. She said the Senate`s observation mission will monitor the elections in regions of Azerbaijan too.
Members of the delegation praised Azerbaijan`s successful movement on the way of democratic progress.
