Azerbaijani Parliament’s delegation visits Korea
Seoul, April 10 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani delegation led by First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Ziyafet Asgarov has visited the Republic of Korea.
The delegation met Korean Speaker of the National Assembly Kang Chang-hee to discuss the current state of and prospects for the bilateral ties between the two countries. They also praised the bilateral bonds between Azerbaijan and South Korea.
They noted that the two countries made efforts to expand relations in political, economic, cultural and other fields.
The sides said a number of documents had been signed between the two countries in a variety of fields.
They also stressed the important role of the high level visits, especially visits of the two countries’ presidents in strengthening the bilateral relations.
The sides also noted the importance of the interparliamentary ties in expanding cooperation between the two countries, saying the enhancing relations in this direction would be useful for both countries.
The Korean side was informed on Azerbaijan’s last achievements under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, as well as huge energy, transport, infrastructure projects implemented in the country.
It was noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in the South Caucasus as the leader country in the region.
They also touched upon Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and noted that Armenia ignored 4 resolutions of the UN Security Council concerning the solution of the dispute, as well as requirements of the PACE, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international organizations.
Ziyafet Asgarov also met Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong-won to discuss the development of bilateral relations, as well as the current state of the economic cooperation, and new investment opportunities.
It was noted that a number of Korean companies had been implementing successful projects in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan also makes investments in foreign countries as a result of the development of country’s economy.
They also highlighted the Azerbaijan’s investment in Korean immovable property market amounted to USD 450 millions as a new direction in economic ties between the two countries.
The Azerbaijani delegation also met Vice Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seug, members of the Korea-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary friendship group of the National Assembly, Deputy Mayor of Seoul Kim Sang Bum.
They hailed the current state of the bilateral ties, and stressed the importance of such reciprocal visits in terms of boosting bilateral bonds between the two countries.
The Azerbaijani delegation also met Korean Minister of Justice Hwang Kyo-ahn to discuss opportunities for the cooperation between the two countries in the field of law.
The Korean Minister was informed about reforms carried out in Azerbaijan in the court-law, and the justice systems.
The Azerbaijani delegation led by Asgarov also viewed the assembly hall, and familiarized themselves with the conditions created for the MPs at the Korean National Assembly.
The delegation also visited the Seoul National Cemetery to pay respect to heroes who gave their lives for Korea’s independence and territorial integrity. They laid a wreath at the monument to the Korean heroes.
Azerbaijani First Deputy Speaker then signed the guest book of the Cemetery.
Asgarov also gave interview to Joongang Daily newspaper.
