Azerbaijani President: Achievements in energy sector considerably strengthened our country
Baku, June 7 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has said the achievements in energy sector considerably strengthened his country.
“What we have achieved in the oil and gas sector, in ensuring energy security made our country considerably stronger,” the President told the opening of the 18th International Caspian Oil and Gas, Refining & Petrochemicals Exhibition and Conference.
“Azerbaijan is a totally self-sufficient country,” President Aliyev noted.
“Our currency exchanges are growing and today they make 35 billion US dollars. Azerbaijan`s economy is growing, in the last seven years the country`s Gross Domestic Product saw a three-fold increase.”
The President added: “If in 2003 our budget expenses were 1.2 billion dollars, in 2011 the figure was 20 billion.”
