Azerbaijani, Turkish and Georgian parliamentary committees eye bilateral cooperation
Baku, April 22 (AZERTAC). A trilateral meeting of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Georgian Parliaments’ Committees for International Relations has been held at the Azerbaijani Parliament.
Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary ties Samad Seyidov highlighted special importance of the meeting.
He noted that the meeting of Chairpersons of the three fraternal and friendly countries’ parliamentary committees would see discussion of ongoing regional processes, as well as the bilateral cooperation.
Samad Seyidov branded the meeting as `historical` for the three countries.
Recalling the meeting of the countries’ Foreign Ministers, Seyidov hailed these meetings as a sign of existence of close cooperation among the countries.
Chairperson of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on International Relations Tedo Japaridze highlighted the event as a meeting of representatives of the legislative bodies from the three friendly and neighboring countries.
He also highlighted the importance of holding such events constantly.
They stressed joint strategic cooperation of the three countries is important for the regional development.
Chairperson of Turkish Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Volkan Bozkir labeled bilateral ties among Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia as `strategic`.
They also noted holding such events among the countries’ parliamentarians is fruitful.
Volkan Bozkir said that Azerbaijan is already one of the important countries on the international arena and the country was in the focus of attention of the most of developed countries.
He noted that being a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Azerbaijan had achieved great successes and played a key role in solution of a number of important issues in this period.
He said that hosting the First European Olympic Games was also the sign of Azerbaijan’s reputation on the international arena.
Addressing the meeting, the MPs noted that Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia cooperate on a wide range of sectors and this partnership is based on strong friendly and fraternal relations.
They also reached an agreement to hold such meetings twice in year.
The next meeting is expected in Georgia.
The protocol on cooperation was signed among parliaments of the three countries.
