AZERBAIJAN`S DEFENSE MINISTER MEETS GEORGIAN COUNTERPART
Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister Safar Abiyev met with Georgian counterpart David Kezerashvili and his accompanying delegation.
Safar Abiyev described Azerbaijan-Georgia relations as strategic.
The Minister said “we must further enhance our ties as well as speed up our efforts towards reestablishing peace and stability in the region”.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Safar Abiyev said his country wants the dispute to be peacefully solved.
“However, peace talks cannot last endlessly... Armenia must withdraw from occupied Azerbaijani territories. Otherwise Azerbaijan will free its lands from occupation”, the Azerbaijani Minister said.
David Kezerashvili said the enhancement of relations between Georgian and Azerbaijani defense ministries serves both countries` interests.
Earlier in the day, the Georgian Minister visited the Alley of Honors, where he laid flowers at the graves of the national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and his wife Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
David Kezerashvili also visited the Alley of Martyrs to pay respect to brave sons of Azerbaijan who died for the country’s independence and territorial integrity.
