Azerbaijan`s economic successes presented to German entrepreneurs
Baku, Sept 27 (AZERTAC). The event titled "Prospects of economic policy: possibilities and challenges" was held by Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Germany jointly with the German Christian Democratic Union`s Economic Council.
The goal of the event, attended by around 70 German entrepreneurs and representatives of the state economic bodies, was to discuss Azerbaijan`s achievements in last decade and encourage German businessmen for the further development of business ideas related to Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan`s Ambassador to this country Parviz Shahbazov said that the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 36 percent in the first half of 2013 compared to the same period of 2012 and the share of German-Azerbaijani trade turnover accounts for 80 percent of the total trade of Germany with the South Caucasus countries.
Head of the Economic Council of the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg Nikolaus Breuel , in turn, spoke about the political and economic development that Azerbaijan gained since independence.
Nikolaus Breuel named Azerbaijan an important partner of Germany in the South Caucasus, noting the abolition of the death penalty, constitutional guarantees of human rights, as well as measures of successful transformation.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of German-Azerbaijan Forum Hanns-Ebert Schleyer said that Azerbaijan is the most rapidly integrating country into Europe in the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
He said that large-scale infrastructure projects and active economic diversification are being implemented in Azerbaijan and it is an attractive factor for the medium German entrepreneurs to invest in the country.
He said that Azerbaijan is ahead of other countries in the South Caucasus and Central Asia in the temps of integration into Europe, emphasizing that large-scale infrastructure projects and economic diversification is an important factor in attracting Middle Western investment capital.
Then, representative of AZPROMO in Germany Ibrahim Ahmadov made a presentation on business opportunities in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan.
The diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Germany were established in February 1992.
There are over 100 German companies in Azerbaijan. Moreover, German companies have acted as contractors under 10 investment projects with a total value exceeding 460 million euros.
