Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency, Latvian Ministry of Agriculture expand cooperation

Goshgar Tahmazli, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency (AFSA), met with Armands Krauze, Latvian Minister of Agriculture.
AFSA Chairman Goshgar Tahmazli briefed the guests on the efforts to ensure food security in Azerbaijan.
The sides reviewed opportunities for joint activities between the two countries in the field of plant health, including the application of artificial intelligence, remote sensing, and GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping technologies for the early detection of pests.
They also discussed studying the experience of Latvia to improve the registration, evaluation and application processes of pesticides, biological preparations and agrochemicals, as well as obtaining methodological support for the application of the European Union's risk-based approaches to assessing the potential impacts of pesticides on human health and the environment.
The parties emphasized the importance of expanding existing cooperation between the two countries, as well as exchanged views on implementing joint projects in the future.
