AZERBAIJAN`s SPEAKER MEETS WITH PACE PRESIDENT
Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Oqtay Asadov met Monday with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rene van der Linden.
Oqtay Asadov said the integration into Europe is one of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy priorities.
He stressed Azerbaijan places particular emphasis on the enhancement of relations with international organizations including the Council of Europe.
Mr. Asadov informed the PACE President about reforms conducted in Azerbaijan, which he said is the leading country in the region and has the best GDP growth rate record in the world.
Commenting on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Oqtay Asadov urged international organizations to speed up efforts towards peaceful solution of the dispute.
Rene van der Linden said it is his second visit to Baku and that it has changed much since then.
“I am the first PACE president to visit Azerbaijan two times, and it is the vivid evidence of our attention and high evaluation to your country”, the PACE President noted.
He stressed Azerbaijan`s successful reforms and rapid development strengthen its international prestige.
Mr. Van der Linden said all ongoing processes in Azerbaijan are closely watched in Europe, and that the Council of Europe attaches great importance to the enhancement of relationships with Azerbaijan.
