AZERI PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION VISITING SWITZERLAND
Baku, September 18 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Ogtay Asadov is in Switzerland for an official visit.
The delegation includes several MPS including Elton Mammadov, Chingiz Asadullayev, Asim Mollazade and head of the parliament`s administration Safa Mirzayev.
The delegation members met Thursday President of National Council Chiara Simoneschi-Cortesi who underlined the importance of “such visits in boosting the bilateral relations”.
She said parliaments of Switzerland and Azerbaijan would contribute to dialogue between the two countries.
During the meeting Asadov reiterated the Azeri government`s commitment to “attaching importance to enhancing relationship with Switzerland in all spheres, particularly interparliamentary one”.
Asadov also praised the establishment of Switzerland-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group in the Swiss parliament.
The same day, the delegation met President of Council of States Alain Berset.
During the talk, Berset stressed the necessity of boosting “friendly relations”. He pointed out the two countries` parliaments play special role in deepening the bilateral cooperation.
Asadov said several important documents were signed between Azerbaijan and Switzerland during reciprocal visits by top officials, adding they create legal basis for bilateral relationship.
Asadov said integration into Europe is one of President Ilham Aliyev`s key foreign policy priorities. He added Azerbaijan attaches great importance to European values.
Asadov also touched upon the ongoing political and economic reforms in Azerbaijan.
He also told of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
