AZERI PM MEETS CIS EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
Azerbaijan`s Premier Artur Rasizade met Tuesday with Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergey Lebedev who is on a visit to the country.
Mr. Lebedev spoke of the work done by the Executive Committee after the summit of the CIS heads of states held in last October in Dushanbe and informal summit of the CIS heads of states held last February in Moscow.
Lebedev said the main problem in the CIS space is the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Artur Rasizade noted Azerbaijan has established good relations with most of the CIS states in both bilateral format and within the Commonwealth.
The Premier said “Azerbaijan supports all projects implemented in the CIS, which are in favor of the state. Recently Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergencies assisted some states of the Commonwealth”.
Speaking on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mr. Rasizade noted Armenia’s non-constructive approach to the dispute is forcing Azerbaijan to increase its defense expenditures.
He stressed “Azerbaijan will in any way restore its territorial integrity”.
The Azerbaijani Premier underlined the necessity of solution of such conflicts within the Commonwealth to raise the CIS` influence.
