AZERI SPEAKER MEETS NATO PA PRESIDENT
Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Parliament of Azerbaijan) Ogtay Asadov met Wednesday with President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Jose Lello. Asadov said Azerbaijan places particular emphasis on development of relations with international organizations, including NATO and its Parliamentary Assembly. He praised the NATO PA`s decision to hold the 68th Rose-Roth seminar in Baku. The Speaker said integration into Euroatlantic space is highest priority in his country`s foreign policy.
Asadov said Azerbaijan is one of the first countries to support international war against terror.
The Milli Majlis Chairman also stressed Azerbaijan`s role in providing European energy security.
On Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Ogtay Asadov said the dispute is continuing to remain Azerbaijan`s major problem.
He noted Armenia is continuing to reject resolutions of UN Security Council, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and other international organizations demanding unconditional withdrawal of Armenian forces from occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Asadov praised NATO`s supporting Azerbaijan`s stance on the conflict.
The Speaker said his country wants the dispute to be solved peacefully and in accordance with international legal norms.
Jose Lello said the NATO Parliamentary Assembly attaches great importance on boosting relations with Azerbaijan.
He praised the activity of Azerbaijani delegation to the NATO PA.
Lello said he is satisfied with meetings he had in Azerbaijan during his current trip.
Head of the Milli Majlis Apparatus Safa Mirzayev was present at the meeting.
