Baku hosts Azerbaijan-Czech Republic business forum
Baku, April 25 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani and Czech businessmen have come together in Baku for a joint business forum.
Organized by Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the event is attended by representatives of 60 Czech companies from various fields, including finance, industry, environment, agriculture, energy and construction.
Opening the forum, deputy minister of economy and industry Niyazi Safarov spoke of Azerbaijan-Czech relations.
He praised legal framework of the bilateral cooperation, saying “more than 20 documents have been singed between the two states so far”.
Safarov said there were 13 Czech companies working in Azerbaijan in a number of fields, including services, transportation, trade, construction and communication. “More than a billion US dollars was invested in Azerbaijan in 2002-2013.”
Safarov said Azerbaijan was determined to develop its cooperation with the Czech Republic in many fields, particularly investment making and trade.
Czech deputy minister of industry and trade Jiri Havlicek stressed the importance of using the existing potential for expanding economic relations and trade cooperation.
The forum featured presentations by AZPROMO chairman Rufat Mammadov on Azerbaijan`s business environment and investment opportunities, and executive director of the Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry for CIS Countries Frantisek Masopust.
