Boat tragedy off the coast of Libya: Bodies of 16 Pakistani recovered

The Pakistani government on Tuesday confirmed the deaths of 16 of its nationals following the capsizing of a boat off the coast of Libya. According to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the bodies have been recovered, and their Pakistani nationality has been confirmed based on their passports.
A statement issued in Islamabad said that after the boat capsized, a team from the Embassy of Pakistan in Tripoli, Libya, visited Zawiya city and met with local officials and the Zawiya hospital staff. The statement added that, according to unconfirmed reports, there were 63 Pakistanis on the boat. So far, 16 bodies have been recovered, and their Pakistani nationality has been confirmed.
Moreover, there are 37 survivors, including one in the hospital and 33 in police custody. Reportedly, around 10 Pakistanis remain missing following the accident. Three of the survivors are in Tripoli and are being cared for by the Embassy. The Embassy in Tripoli is gathering further information and maintaining contact with local authorities.
