BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION CENTER TO BE OPENED IN AZERBAIJAN
The Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency "TIKA" has granted the equipment to the bone marrow transplantation center, which is to be opened in Azerbaijan.
The protocol of cooperation between the Agency and Azerbaijan`s Health Ministry was signed July 11 by the Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev and President of "TIKA" Hakan Fidan.
Mr. Shiraliyev underlined that similar agreement will be signed with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation led by the First Lady of Azerbaijan, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO Mehriban Aliyeva. The Foundation implements the "Life without thalassemia" program, and is going to fund the construction of the thalassemia treatment center. Siemens Company will provide the equipment for this center, which is to be opened in late 2007.
Mrs. Shiraliyev also stressed that agreement on training of Azerbaijani specialists in the field of bone marrow transplantation was sealed with Turkey`s Health Ministry.
