BSEC FOREIGN MINISTERS BRING TOGETHER IN ISTANBUL
A meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization took place in the framework of the BSEC`s 15th Anniversary Summit at Chiragan Palace in Istanbul on June 25.
Turkey`s FM Abdullah Gul said in his opening remarks that over the period of his country`s presidency of BSEC, the organization has intensified its activities and established multilateral cooperation based on mutual interests of its members. Elimination of some impediments in trade, according to him, will allow widening contacts among member-states, while implementation of new projects will open new opportunities.
The speakers stressed the great importance of international cooperation in the globalizing world, and necessity of taking measures to prevent pollution of the Black Sea marine environment, noting the importance of expanding cooperation with the European Union and other international organizations.
Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov noted that very important work has been done in many fields over the past period, which, he said, has been marked by intensification of the mutually beneficial bilateral and multilateral cooperation in finance, trade, energy and other spheres. He mentioned a positive impact of such relationships on realization of the regional projects.
Azerbaijan`s top diplomat also touched upon the threats existing in the region stressing the importance of finding solution to the conflicts hindering regional cooperation.
