CIS observation mission for Belarus presidential election starts its work

The CIS observation mission for the presidential elections in Belarus has started its work early this week. Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina presented a certificate to head of the CIS observation mission Sergei Lebedev. Yermoshina said that according to the tradition, certificate No. 1 is given to the Chairman of the Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev.
According to Yermoshina, CEC has accredited a total of 33 international observers from the CIS. "Starting from today the CIS mission is officially open. This is the fourth election observation mission at the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus in the history of the CIS," she said.
At the beginning of next week, long-term observers will visit all regions of the country to get acquainted with the results of the formation of territorial election commissions, the course of verification of signatures, attend the meetings of the district and city executive committees.
The final document on the results of the monitoring will be based on long-term and short-term observers' reports.
