COE BELIEVES IN ADHERENCE OF AZERBAIJAN TO DEMOCRATIC VALUES
As is reported, PACE spring session on 16 April continued discussions on the state of fulfillment by Azerbaijan of its commitments taken before the Council of Europe.
Co-rapporteurs Andres Herkel (Estonia) and Tony Lloyd (Great Britain) noted that last years Azerbaijan’s economy has notably developed, and successfully are realized many reforms and nevertheless, the country has a number of problems.
Speaking on the question, deputies from Belgium, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Lithuania and others, emphasized that the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict impedes realization of reforms in Azerbaijan, however, the economy intensively develops. The deputies have condemned the position of co-rapporteurs related to Azerbaijan, being a young democratic country, and called on Armenia for constructive talks. Cooperation between the country and the Council of Europe persistently develops, they stressed.
During discussion of democratic reforms in Azerbaijan, it was noted that cooperation of Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe would further develop.
