COMMEMORATION OF GENOCIDE VICTIMS AT AZERBAIJAN EMBASSY IN MOSCOW
The visitors had the opportunity to familiarize with the Decree by President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev on declaration of March 31 as a Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis, photos reflecting tragic pages of our history and the book “Genocide of Historical Truth” placed on the board assembled at the Embassy’s foyer.
In his opening remark, Ambassador of the Azerbaijan Republic to the Russian Federation Ramiz Rizayev noted that since March 31 1998, the truth of the Azerbaijani tragedy had been actively disseminating in an international scale. According to him, every year, Azerbaijanis living in the Republic and beyond its borders draw the attention of the international community to this tragic event. The Ambassador pointed out a special role of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in this relation, and urged All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis and representatives of Azerbaijani intellectuals to prepare recommendations and concrete proposals on doing more efficient ideological work and disseminating objective information on the historical developments in the life of the Azerbaijani people.
Other speakers expressed the common opinion that Azerbaijan should consolidate its efforts for the global community to recognize the fact of genocide and give both political and moral assessment to Armenian nationalism and terrorism. They also suggested founding analytical centers to conduct historical survey and expose the facts of aggressive policy pursued by Armenia since the last century.
On the same day, there was a presentation ceremony of book by well-known biologist, Milli Majlis Deputy, Academician Jalal Aliyev “Turks, Azerbaijanis, Armenians: “Genocide” of Historical Truth“ published in Moscow. The book covers key developments in the history of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict on the base of actual archival materials and figures.
Well-known Russian historian Igor Pechenev especially emphasized the role of the policy conducted since 1993 by our nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev in relation to settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, and bringing objective information to the global community at all levels.
The commemoration ceremony was attended by our diplomats, representatives of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis and Russia’s public.
