COUNCIL OF EUROPE INFORMATION CENTER OPENED IN AZERBAIJAN

On April 8, in the ancient part of Baku, in Icherisheher, was held opening ceremony of information center of the Council of Europe in Azerbaijan in which participated the visiting СЕ Secretary General Walter Schwimmer, and also Chairman of Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Murtuz Alaskarov, as well as the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Baku.

Having noted that the information center of the Council of Europe will allow the public of Azerbaijan to join more closely the European values, W. Schwimmer has emphasized, that opening of this structure symbolizes the beginning of a new stage in development of relations between СЕ and Azerbaijan.

Speaking about results of the held meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, Secretary General of the Council of Europe has stated that feels pride in connection with the fact that the vice-president of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has been elected on the post of President of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Having reminded that similar information centers successfully function in 22 European states, Walter Schwimmer has emphasized that opening of this center becomes a symbol of integration of Azerbaijan in the Council of Europe and “once again shows as far as activity of this international structure is many-sided”.
