DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN TAKES PART AT CONSULTATIONS IN MOSCOW
Deputy foreign minister Azerbaijan Araz Azimov in the frame of two-day visit to Moscow has lead a number of meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian federation during which took place consultations concerning regional and international security as well as development of bilaterial Russian-Azerbaijan relations.
On 8 May, Araz Azimov on the invitation of the Center of the Caucasian Researches at MGIMO has addressed the staff of the Institute and representatives of expert community with a lecture "The Policy of the Azerbaijan Republic in the field of safety". The same day, A. Azimov delivered a lecture in the Carnegie Moscow Center on the "Modern challenges to the Azerbaijan Republic and regional safety".
Araz Azimov has told about results of the consultations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the multivector foreign policy pursued by Azerbaijan. In particular, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan has informed, that an essence of the Azerbaijan foreign policy is in its trans-regionalism. As he said, Azerbaijan pursues open and consecutive foreign policy directed on close integration with the leading political centers of the world. Azerbaijan, as well as Russia, attaches huge significance of safety of the borders, which meet its national interests and national resources.
"We managed to build full and at the same time detailed enough agenda for dialogue concerning safety, military-political cooperation", he told. A. Azimov has especially noted, that in the foreign policy review the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, in particular, it is underlined, that Azerbaijan for Russia is the important strategic partner, and relations are under construction on mutual trust and respect. " I shall add, that these relations need to be developed and further on conditions of mutual trust and respect, the mutual account of the interests”, he stressed.
As A. Azimov noted, the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was especially discussed. “The Azerbaijan party has shown maximum of the possible compromise. At the same time, in the focus were basic principles of settlement of the conflict on international law, inadmissibility of their infringement. We are satisfied with the exchange of views", - Mr. Azimov said.
