DEPUTY MINISTER OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MEETS WITH ADB DELEGATION
Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sevinj Hasanova met with the delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by Prof. John Weeks, Director of the “Technical Assistance to the Republic of Azerbaijan for Capacity Building at the Ministry of Economic Development” project.
Sevinj Hasanova informed the visitors about the current economic situation in Azerbaijan, progress achieved as a result of economic reforms implemented in the country and its economic development trends.
She emphasized the importance of the “Technical Assistance to the Republic of Azerbaijan for Capacity Building at the Ministry of Economic Development” project to increase potential for economic modeling and economic policy-making.
Prof. Weeks spoke of the work done under the project and its results. He advised that three training courses on economic policy and two on economic modeling had been conducted. As a result, an Economic Modeling Group consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Taxes, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, as well as the State Customs Committee, the State Oil Fund, the State Statistic Committee and the National Bank of Azerbaijan. Besides, six reports on various themes have been prepared by the Scientific Research Institute of Economic Reforms. The reports are expected to be printed and published on the Institute’s website.
