E-signature infrastructure presented in Azerbaijan
Baku, May 3 (AZERTAC). Presentation of the National center of certification services for electronic digital services (EDS) took place in Baku today, according to the ICT Ministry.
Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Elmir Velizadeh informed the event participants about the work done in the direction of creating a platform for the use of digital signature, the legal framework approved in this area, as well as the establishment of the Center of certification services.
In his speech, Elmir Velizade also spoke about the parameters of the certificates, their security, necessary procedures for obtaining and using e-signatures. The Deputy Minister, in particular, underlined the creation of the website www.e-imza.az/ and noted that detailed information about e-signature can be obtained through the resource. The software required for use of the e-signature can be downloaded at the given site. It should be noted that e-signature requires a special card reader.
After that, participants were shown a film on the possibilities and advantages of e-signature, its implementation in all socio-economic areas.
Participating in the presentation ceremony, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov expressed his satisfaction with today`s event and highlighted it as extremely important for the country.
Ali Abbasov particularly emphasized the attention paid to the information and communication technologies sector by President Ilham Aliyev.
The Minister also said that he believes today`s presentation and rapid mass adoption of e-signature will open up even more opportunities for information society and lead to a new level of development of information technologies in the country. Ali Abbasov also noted that e-signature is the integral part for the implementation of e-government project, which will be officially unveiled in a few months.
Following the Minister, a representative from the Ministry of Taxes addressed the event delivering a report on the implementation of information technologies in the department, and the implications of e-signature on the activities of the tax service in the future.
Then, Ultra CEO Tahir Mirkishili, a member of the consortium on establishing the platform of digital signature, called the implementation of the project challenging, and at the same time extremely necessary for the development of Azerbaijan.
Regional solution architect at Microsoft Robert Hernady on behalf of Microsoft expressed satisfaction in cooperation with the Azerbaijan government. Displaying a presentation on the positive aspects of the implementation of e- signature, Microsoft official expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation. EDS system project has been implemented by a consortium consisting of local companies Ultra, Azerin and local representation of Microsoft. The platform has been developed with application of Microsoft solutions on the basis of the tender announced by the Information Computing Center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.
