EANA OFFICIALS MEET AZERTAC STAFF
As is reported Secretary-General of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) Erik Nylen and member of the Bureau, president of the Hungarian News Agency (MTI) Matyas Vince are visiting the State Telegraph Agency of Azerbaijan (AZERTAC). Aslan Aslanov, AZERTAC Director General informed the guests about the history of the State Agency, as well as nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev’s attention and care to the development of the material and technical base and peraonnel of the Agency.
Mr. Aslanov also spoke about the achievements gained under President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s guidance and favorable conditions created for mass media in Azerbaijan.
“Building legal and democratic society, Azerbaijan considers integration into Europe as one of its main priorities. The Azerbaijani government is taking necessary measures to develop democracy, ensure human rights and liberties and create favorable conditions for mass media”, said Mr. Aslanov.
He stressed Azerbaijan’s leading position in region also has positive influence on the expansion of the AZERTAC’s international relations.
Mr. Aslanov noted AZERTAC- member of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), the Union of the Turkish Speaking Countries News Agencies (TKA), the Black Sea Association of National News Agencies (BSANNA), Association of the National News Agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (ANIA) and also having fruitful cooperation with over 30 countries’ news agencies increases its opportunities in access to universal information space and spreading Azerbaijan’s realities.
AZERTAC considers becoming a member of the EANA as part of Azerbaijan’s integration into Europe. Currently the Agency has intensive bilateral cooperation with several EANA members.
Expressing gratitude for invitation Erik Nylen and Matyas Vince informed about their Organization and said their visit to Azerbaijan aims at getting acquaintance with the Agency’s activity, material and technical base, working condition to be a member of the EANA, as well as measures done to ensure freedom of speech, expression and press in the country.
The guests familiarized themselves with the AZERTAC’s material-technical capacity and working conditions created for the Agency’s employees.
