“East and West Together” photo exhibition opens in The Hague

The photo exhibition titled “East and West Together” by renowned photographer Etibar Jafarov has opened at the Christus Triumfatorkerk church in The Hague, organized by the Azerbaijan-Netherlands “Odlar Yurdu” Society with the support of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in the Netherlands and the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s lands.
Firangiz Baghirova, Chairperson of the Azerbaijan-Netherlands “Odlar Yurdu” Society, delivered the opening speech. She stated that the exhibition is a means of promoting Azerbaijani culture beyond the country’s borders and reflects the synthesis of the country’s modern and ancient history.
Dilara Abbasova, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Netherlands, noted that Azerbaijan is a tolerant country where Eastern and Western cultures intersect and various religions and cultures come together. She emphasized that these characteristics are reflected in the exhibition.
Photographer Etibar Jafarov said that in recent years he has been documenting Azerbaijani architecture and cultural heritage. He explained that the title of the exhibition is based on the idea of “the unity of Western and Eastern architecture” and aims to showcase Azerbaijan’s rich architectural heritage, as well as the harmony and unity of Eastern and Western styles through photography.
He noted that the works on display reflect the harmony and unity of Eastern and Western architecture, as well as the influence of different religions on the country’s national architecture. He also provided information about his exhibitions successfully presented in Europe and the books he has published.
Elsevar Mammadov, Chairman of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in the Netherlands and Belgium, thanked the organizer of the exhibition and highlighted the importance of holding such projects in Europe. He praised the high professionalism of the photographs on display and wished Etibar Jafarov success in his future endeavors.
The photographs, reflecting the beauty of Azerbaijan, the architectural gems of Baku, and the unity of antiquity and modernity, attracted great interest from visitors.
