Emirates News Agency proposes launching direct exchange of information with AzerTAc
Baku, May 13 (AZERTAC). The Emirates News Agency (WAM) has proposed launching direct exchange of information with the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) as ambassador to the UAE Elkhan Gahraman met WAM Executive Director Jamal Naser Al-Swuaider.
The WAM Executive Director hailed the cooperation between the agencies under two international media alliances, the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and the News Agencies World Congress (NAWC).
Jamal Naser said: “We want to cooperate with AZERTAC, which is an active member of the international media alliances, under an official agreement.
“We know that AZERTAC will host the 16th General Assembly of OANA and the 5th News Agencies World Congress in 2016, and that the agency will chair the two organizations till 2019.”
“This is a remarkable achievement, and a strong signal of Azerbaijan’s growing influence on the international scene,” he added.
Jamal Naser noted that a draft agreement on cooperation would soon be sent to AZERTAC through the Embassy.
The WAM Executive Director invited AZERTAC Director General Aslan Aslanov to visit the UAE to sign the agreement in October.
Ambassador Gahraman invited the WMA Executive Director to visit Azerbaijan to discuss bilateral cooperation with AZERTAC.
The ambassador highlighted the role of the mass media in expanding intergovernmental relations, and noted the importance of building a legal framework of the bilateral cooperation.
